PHOTOSHOP TUTORIELS-Content Aware Move Tool in PS CS6

Content Aware has been introduced some time ago in Photoshop CS series. It is taken a step further in Photoshop CS 6. You can move a portion of an image to another place and Photoshop fills in the hole left behind by sampling pixels from the surrounding areas. Though this is an amazing and very useful tool, it works with certain kinds of images. When it does it makes a good job of it.

I will be using this stock image. You will find it here It belongs to ideea
Note that the background is quite simple. I propose to move the girl from the middle to a side.

PHOTOSHOP TUTORIELS- Radial Blur Special Effect

Sometimes the tools in Photoshop will give you a special. Here I will demonstrate how you can use the Radial Blur filter for an effect that can be achieved very simply but looks great. It can be done in any version of Photoshop even Photoshop7. It will also work with any image.

This is the effect I have in mind.

PHOTOSHOP TUTORIELS-Brightening and Sharpening in Lab Mode

Sometimes images may not have the vibrance and color that you would wish for in an image,. Though there are many ways to do this the easiest is doing this after converting images to Lab Mode. Then Curves and Unsharp Mask can do the rest. This works for all images.

PHOTOSHOP TUTORIELS-Border with Layer Mask

Take a Texture or an image as background. Paste another image in the foreground. Apply a border and use a Black Layer Mask to see through the border into the texture for a simple special effect.

This is the effect I wish to create.

PHOTOSHOP TUTORIELS-Photoshop Tutorial Blending

Photoshop Tutorial Blending

Sometimes a Blend Mode in Photoshop will give very beautiful results. Blend Modes have remained unchanged in Photoshop except for two which are not available in Photoshop7. We will only be using the Blend Modes that are available in all versions of Photoshop.

This is how the edited picture will look.

I will be using these two stock images for this tutorial.

PHOTOSHOP TUTORIELS-photoshop tutorial Cutting out images the old fashioned way

photoshop tutorial Cutting out images the old fashioned way

Cutting out an image from its background is at times a sheer necessity, but many users of photoshop find this difficult. There is an absolute horror of the Pen Tool, while the Quick Select Tool is not found in all versions of photoshop. Photoshop offers the Lasso Tools as selection tools but they are not good for making accurate selections, or are they not? You can make selections also with the Lasso Tools. See how in this tutorial.

This is an image cut out from its background with the Lasso Tools and pasted on a black background.
The original is below.

PHOTOSHOP TUTORIELS-Single Row, Single Column Marquees in Photoshop

Single Row, Single Column Marquees in Photoshop

There are the Rectangular Marquee and the Elliptical Marquee Tools in Photoshop of which you will be more than familiar. But there are two others beneath them -- the Single Row Marquee and the Single Column Marquee. You can create a special effect like a faint chequer board pattern with the two Marquees. I will also be using the Blend Modes. You can use them or something else that you prefer or if it  looks good to you. You can change the Blend Modes after completion of the tutorial and experiment with them. None of values that are given are hard and fast, you can always be flexible.

This is the effect I will create.

PHOTOSHOP TUTORIELS-Black and White in Photoshop

Black and White in Photoshop

Turning a color image to Black and White seems quite simple enough. Just duplicate the image and press CTRL+SHIFT+U to desaturate in Photoshop. But this does remove the color, but leaves little contrast.
Here is a way to turn color images to B&W i.e. with full contrast. It is quite simple to do really.

This is a color image turned into high contrast B&W.

PHOTOSHOP TUTORIELS-Adjustment Layer Blown Highlights Vintage Look

Adjustment Layer Blown Highlights Vintage Look

Creating a vintage look is not difficult. Blowing out highlights too is easy. All you need are Adjustment Layers in Photoshop. Why not combine blown highlights and vintage look together. The results turn out quite well if you are looking for that kind of effect.

PHOTOSHOP TUTORIELS-Color Sampler in Photoshop and how to use it

Color Sampler in Photoshop and how to use it

Many of us who use Photoshop fight shy of using the Color Sampler Tool to determine the Black, Grey and White points in an image for color correction as it seems to be confusing. It also leaves numbers on the image which you think you can't remove. But it is not difficult to use once you know how. You can color correct an image in a breeze with the Color Sampler Tool. And, something more.

Dark photos can be a problem. The Levels and Adjustment Layers in Photoshop should solve the issue. The rule of the thumb is first used a Levels adjustment. If it works then its just fine.
